Dubliners

Dubliners A collection of 15 short stories published in 1914 in which Joyce illuminates the paralysis of Dublin middle-class society. At the time, nationalism was at its peak in Ireland. Europe was ravaged by war and Dublin found itself in the midst of conflicting beliefs and loyalties. The stories incorporate the idea of epiphanies and a sudden consciousness or illumination of the soul. Readers of Ulysses will recognise some of the characters.
