Ambiguity Machines and Other Stories

Debut North American collection of Indian physicist and SF author Vandana Singh. Stories range from the near future to far galaxies, all grounded in Singh's scientific background and Indian cultural heritage. Key story 'Delhi': a cognitive scientist experiences a city's accumulated sensory and cultural memories across centuries — a vast, embodied knowledge that exists nowhere except in the fabric of lived human experience, impossible to archive, impossible to train AI on, and when gone is gone entirely. The title story 'Ambiguity Machines: An Examination' is structured as a test for 'explorers venturing into Conceptual Machine-Space': machines that cannot exist, knowledge that cannot be computed.
